don't you get really hot wearing the hijab?

yes.

but it's not always the matter of the hijab literally making it hot, it's probably the long pants/jean and the long sleeves (usually layered because of lack of thin long sleeve tops) that add to it.

surprisingly though, it's not as bad as you would think it is. not wearing it is not an option that i choose, so i just adapt.

but, anyone would feel "hot" in 80 plus degree weather regardless of the amount of clothing worn. :)

Sport hijab! I love it. I need one of these--- my style of hijab always flops around when I am running or taking a class at the gym :)

Cool and confident. I like that she's looking the world straight in the eye as she walks.

ladies, any hijab tips for how to keep things cooler?

Here's a blog that's always caught my eye, it has fascinating pictures and styles of hijabis all over the world and tips on what to wear with it!: Stylish Muslimah

  1. Salam!

I started to wear hijab in the summer and at the time I layered. It was HOT. since then I've realized that abayas are pretty much the coolest clothing option for the summer. They let in air, they cover well, they provide shade (lol) and they are easy to accessorize and look smart.

    :-D

  2. Salam aleikum,
well I don't have any good tips unfortunately, but I have heard some people saying that it will be even hotter in the Hell, so wearing hijab feels nothing compared to it.. Maybe it's not the best comparison but it reminds us why we should use hijab.

  5. Jeans are probably not the best clothing item to be wearing on very hot days. In summer, linen is a girl's best friend. It's cool, breathable, and lightweight. Linen skirts, pants, and tunics are all summer staples (and linen pants are usually pretty baggy, so they work well for hijabis). As NeverEver said, jilbabs can be good too, but make sure the fabric is light and breathable. Make sure your hijab is made out of a cool fabric, since a lot of sweat comes out from one's head; satin and silk/polyester hijabs are probably best avoided in favor of cotton or light crepe.

  8. I agree I get so hot from the long sleeves and layers cause most shirts show too much of the chest I have to wear one under. Thank God for the AC!
